Welcome to the homepage of Worldtraveller2u. The page is still under contruction, but I hope it already looks good enough to be worth visiting. Tips are also welcome.
Why this site? I´m Martijn and maybe you wonder why I made another site about travelling, there are already so many of them. True and with most of them I will never be able to compete, that´s not the intention of this site. I made this website in the first place to tell you my own personal story. I got so many questions from people who are afraid to start travelling for a long time, so they never do it... I want to tell and show you how beautiful traveling can be, but I also hope that other travellers will use the forum to leave their tips and adices, for those who have less experience. If they get confirmed by more people I will even put all this info. on a separate page. Maybe in the future I want to start my own little travel agency, specialized in basic custom made groups-journeys, but for now I really hope this website can convince and advise other people who want to go travelling. I hope it can be as helpfull to other travellers as so many travellers I met, have been to me. I believe that travelling to different places around the world enriches our live, it is a great experience and gives us a better perspective of our world. It also gives us new ideas, experiences and examples to compare. For example, I started my long journey in August 2003 and until now (February 2008) all together I´ve only been back in Holland for about 9 months. If people in the past asked me about Amsterdam, I would tell them that it isn´t a pretty city, I only like the city-culture. Last week however I walked through the streets of Amsterdam and had to admit that the city isn´t that ugly at all, especially if I compare it to lots of other cities I´ve seen now.The example above shows that travelling can be more than just visiting beautiful places around the world, but can also make us see the beauty that´s just around and make us appreciate more what we already have… If you have any questions and/or you want to travel to one of places on this website, you are also welcome to send me an e-mail:

This is my friend Roy. Without this puma from Inti Wara Yassi, probably I would never have become a tour leader.
Thanks Roy. |

Welcome on my website! I´m Martijn Steijn, born in 1978 in Petten, a small village on the Dutch coast. As a little boy it was one of my dreams to build my own sailing boat and sail around the world to explore new places. After school I worked several years making the interiors of mostly small sailing yachts, a job I really like(d) and close to the first part of my dream. In 2003, after some doubts and long thinking I decided to quit my job and to go travelling for 11 months in Latin America, from Mexico to Brazil. However, after 10 months of travelling and visiting about a 100 places, I ended up in Bolivia. I visited a volunteer park named Inti Wara Yassi and was suppose to stay for 2 weeks to help doing construction work. But when they asked me to stay for a month, so I could work/walk with a puma, I couldn´t say no. The 2 weeks became 8 months during which I also worked on construction, planning, organizing and managing the daily business of the park. I liked the parts of planning, organizing and working with people so much that after I came back home, this was a big reason to become a tour leader. Now, at January 2008 I´ve guided 15 tours and in between I´ve been travelling, wrote my own book about traveling, my job as a tour leader and volunteering and have done more volunteer work in a park that friends of my started in Ecuador. It´s called Merazonia. More about the volunteer park in Bolivia you can find on: www.intiwarayassi.org More about Merazonia you can find on: www.merazonia.org
